I have had the opportunity to listen to a number of sermons over the years, from speakers both educated and articulate. One of the most memorable though, was by an elderly lady from humble circumstances. It was a number of years ago, after a hurricane had destroyed homes in Florida. This woman walked slowly up to the pulpit and said,

I saw on the news where people was crying because they lost their fancy beach houses in Florida. Those people- they got their health, they got each other. All that other stuff is that - just stuff. They got no reason to cry. They should thank the Lord for their blessings.

Then she gave thanks for all she had, and made her way back to her seat.

While I believe the issues that we discuss here on Housingdoom are extremely important, when it comes down to it, like those beach houses in Florida- they are, as the lady said, all just stuff. For that reason, John and I thought we would take a break from housing, and honor those who lost so much five years ago. We encourage our readers who are so inclined to do the same.
