I usually get my best spam from M and from L, who are inundated by real estate flyers on a daily basis. Today however, I thought I’d post three that arrived yesterday in my personal email. It’s a bit of a change from the online pharmacies and Nigerian millionaires:

For those analysts who are having trouble seeing signs of recession, perhaps they should check their inbox. These looks like signs of the times to me.
I’m a tax accountant and most of my clients are real estate agents. Over the past few days they’ve been forwarding me the following spam they received:

Now, of course my clients were curious until i assured them it’s just somebody sellin something (FYI…it can be discredited by simply knowing the statute of limitations for claiming a refund is three years and this guy claims you can go back to get money five years). The point is that my clients and myself are seeing less viagra spam and MUCH more real estate related spam.

Spam is sort of the “late night advertising” of the internet- it always seems to try and appeal to the most vulnerable. Usually “sex sells”. Now it looks like a number of spammers are banking on financial desperation.
The same kids that were told to “Just Say No” to drug dealers are now old enough to “Just Say No” to bailout scams (the Crack of 2008/09?).
Eerily, I almost thought that was Shaq for a second in the Citi ad – I thought, wow, that was some fast work by their marketing department.
Collections Agents are the new Mortgage Brokers.
