One Las Vegas couple has brought mortgage fraud to new heights: [Thanks L!]
U.S. Attorney for Nevada Gregory Brower says Eve Mazzarella, 30, and her husband, Steven Grimm, 45, were indicted Wednesday on bank fraud, money laundering and aiding and abetting charges.
Grimm was arrested Thursday in Las Vegas and is due to appear Friday in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas. Brower says Mazzarella is being sought.
If convicted, each could face decades in prison and millions of dollars in fines.
The government alleges Mazzarella and Grimm bought more than 200 properties at inflated values using limited liability companies and more than 400 straw buyers to make purchase offers.
The couple allegedly controlled transactions worth more than $100 million.
They allegedly defaulted on mortgage payments on many of the loans, causing at least 118 properties to be sold in foreclosure.
L asks:
Bernanke vows to help homeowners. Do these people qualify for help?
Think of the heartbreak for this couple. Most homeowners who lose their home only have to deal with it once- they lost 118, and are facing federal charges. There ought to be a program…

Oh my this is terrible. What we need to do is have the Federal Reserve give this couple a loan for a few hundred million.
They need to repurchase all those homes for 10-20% more than they paid the first time to “help” all of the nearby homeowners.
Then with the rest of the money they can start their program in some other cities.
This is truly sad news…
I believe they already have a program. Three free meals a day, free room and board and free recreation activities. Don’t bend over for the dropped soap though.
I bet they get off without much punishment. The courts are clogged with bankruptcy and foreclosure hearings at this point. No time for these folks.
Did I mention that the tax rolls are dropping fast, so the courts can’t staff up to handle it?
Guess what? She’s profiled by the Realtards…
EVE MAZZARELLA
I’m preparing to induct her into the Hall of Shame.
Tyrone-
I checked out her website, where she lists among her specialties “foreclosures and short sales”.
I suppose if anyone is a foreclosure expert, she is!
