Sometimes I wish Bush were even half the president the radicals claim he is.

As he is now, he's rather boring, started a war on reasonable grounds (hell, every intelligence agency in the world claimed Saddam had WMD's, and if he didn't why didn't he let our inspectors in?), and like Clinton tried to ride a bubble, but the bubble popped far earlier than expected. Clinton got off almost scot-free when the inet bubble popped at the end of his presidency.

Oh well. At least it's going to be an entertaining ride to January 2009.

Mike,

You're making the dangerous assumption that just because we don't want Obama, that we want what is currently being passed around as a Republican...

The parties of today, at least on the Republican side, can no longer be described by the ideals the party itself was built on.

I don't see an increased focus on the economy

I don't see an increase in personal civil liberties (Hello Patriot Act?)

And I SURE as hell do not see smaller government

So just be careful when playing Jump-To-Conclusions.

It's completely appropriate to dislike all 3 candidates.

As much as I dislike Hillary and Obama, and as much as I want less government, more freedom, and less taxation and govt spending, it's very clear that neither Bush NOR McCain represent that.

So if they don't represent what a Republican is.. who does?

I agree with the above poster who said "Someone else" for president.

If I wasn't already writing in my choice of candidate (which I'll leave out here), I'd just as soon write in "None of the above".

At least when things go bad (as I'm willing to bet they will), I can at least say that I didn't support either of the 3.

AZSaluki-

I'd rather stick to housing too. I'm usually sorry when I let posts run to the political side. Unfortunately, who's going to best deal with this mess [<em>Or at least be the lesser of three evils</em>] is relevant- so I risk it now and then.

Well put MikeC. "Cheap punk, "bunch of scum, etc." These types of attacks always come up when a closed minded individual decides to discuss either politics or religion. My rule is to not discuss those issues with a group containing more than 3 or 4 people because statistics (and experience) tell me at some point you'll get an "ignorant" person.

I'm with brucewho. More fun to discuss housing problems than to bash each others' political views. Vote for who you want...just vote period. Before you do though, ask yourself if this country is better off now than 8 years ago.

All one in the same party. Republicrats! Really now, the President actually is in control. Who controls the President? Who funds the campaign? Who makes sure their guy or gal is on the ballot? Who gets their person elected? The People? Let's get back to discussing Housing Doom. Not like we can do anything about that but I think it's more fun.

Let's just wait for it to hit our front doorstep. Oh wait, that was decades ago. Obama and Clinton can't be effective where we need them the most (the middle east) and McCain won't be effective. There is a difference between can't and won't. As for the bubble mess, we still need to hit bottom.

In another thread a reference to a time 10-15 years from now with a $1.00 down and stipulations to renovate may not be too far off (in some cities). There is no one person or constituency that can fix 15 years of the American ship on autopilot......It will all be okay, really!

Vote and get into your local issues. Change laws and make things happen. Our passive society has helped create the America we have today. By the people means crap in our society.

Drag anyone you can into the mix and start caring again with action. Our politicians have certainly created quite a mess to fix. I really don't want to hope that they will make the right decisions. Do you?

Just my opinion(s). I could be wrong.

Mike..funny you think that it is of not much concern..that is how France felt as Hilter only let a few soldiers in at time before taking over a town...His strategy was simple send in the spies first..find out who is who..then slowly turn neighbor against neighbor..only letting the soldiers in small groups..now I not saying that NEAR this is happening..but hey..armies making deals without congress, food shortages that are more than rice and wheat, droughts, and bees that just aren't around anymore..I just think it is good to keep ones eyes and ears open to media that is NOT American driven...but hey don't worry..as Bernanke told us.."subprime is contained" ...

jrskmpr:
>>"By the way, the house and land were a front
>> for an illegal scheme."...

Blah, blah, blah. Wow, you'll believe anything some right-wing wingnut will put on a blog, won't you?

Anyways, I think I understand why you are so upset at Obama - he's so small time compared to Bush. I mean, Bush is best known for his now-exposed lies that were a front for a HALF-TRILLION DOLLAR WAR.

>>"Bye bye bama."...
Pre-mature, of course. Unless you time-travel too?

>>"I love all the ignorant, stupid, degenerate
>> people who supported this cheap punk. What
>> a bunch of scum!"

Did you read your own statement? How utterly irrational, and insane.

It is irrational haters like you that voted for Chimperor Bush twice and allowed him and the Republican majority he had in both House AND Senate for MOST of his EIGHT years in power to:
(1) bring the U.S. economy down on its knees,
(2) bring the U.S. dollar down on its knees,
(3) borrow more money than all other previous U.S. presidents combined (the next few generations are screwed, to say the least)
(4) ruin the international reputation of the U.S.
(5) quite possibly be responsible for the beginning of the end of the Golden Age of the U.S. in the world

Yet somehow people like you still have such a strong hatred for Barack???

Get your priorities straight!

BTW
After 8 years of Democratic Clinton:
Budget surpluses and booming economy

After 8 years of Republican G.W.Bush:
Economic and public relations casastrophe for the U.S.

If you're a sadist, go ahead and vote for another Republican (OOH! Look! McCain wants to attack Iran... that should make EVERYTHING all better...>!)

>>What is this about Canada and martial law?
>>Do you have a link?

Twist, this was news up in Canada a couple of months ago, but just barely.

Very IMPORTANT to note is that the agreement is supposed to work BOTH ways. Under the agreement the U.S. has the right to march into Canada under "emergency" conditions too.

There were a lot of questions left unanswered to Canadians, and it seemed to just fall off the radar.

Funny that "mortgagemess" should express concern about Canada's military having permission to enter the U.S. under a time of national emergency. Is this seriously threatening to anybody that realizes how much more vast and strong the U.S.'s military resources are?

Hm. Maybe there wouldn't be a need for Canadian soldiers to be "on call" if some hundred-thousand plus U.S. soldiers weren't over in Iraq because of the WMDs...er, no I mean because Saddam was supposedely linked to Al Quaida. Er no, scratch that one too (Bush has admitted otherwise).... ah, because of LIBERATION ( hmm..no, if you see their supposed "constitution", you'll see that isn't it either... and when you factor in that millions have died in warfare in Africa while the Iraqi occupation goes on, you see that "freedom" and "saving lives" has nothing to do with the U.S. in Iraq).
AH, let's just all admit it already (as MCCAIN DID JUST THIS PAST WEEK) - The soldiers are there because of the oil.

Now then...
Canada has plentiful water. And oil. And many other resources. They have a LOT, and by that I mean a HELLUVA lot more to fear about this supposed bilateral agreement than the other way around.

YOu can google it and there are a ton of articles about it...

This November will be my ninth time to vote for a president. In all those years I have never had a fair degree of confidence that my chosen candidate could not make things worse. Although
with an opposing party Congress, a few came pretty close. So here is what little wisdom I have learned. Avoid heartburn when you can.
I told you it was little.

Igor says useless.

Don't worry JimAtLaw..the food shortage crisis is only a summer crop away..by september...THERE WILL BE BLOOD..just google food crisis and see how more worldwide the spread is...this week..Japan RAN OUT of butter...and the USA just gave AUTHORITY to Canada's military to be allowed to patrol and rule over US citizens if martial law is passed...

As far as Obama is concerned..I just don't get the love that going around for him...the man is just like a puppet repeating what everyone wants to here..I am also not to pleased to know that his birth father is a radical and that he spent time growing up outside of the USA in some questionable places...personally..I don't trust him, I don't see him as a "American" and I see him as a possible danger to this country...He says everything and stands for nothing..Whats UP?

Whoever wins will have a lot to manage. I just got back from Petco. Our dog food bag was shrunk by 5 lbs at the same price (sneaky and happening with all kinds of consumables), and that's <i>after</i> going from $30 to over $40 in a year. As best I can tell, that's a collective 40%+ increase. I paid $75 to fill up my truck on the way home, we've gone from $1.50/gal a few years ago to $3.85. Groceries have gone up by 20%+ in just a few months.

Here in L.A., when people start getting hungry, there will be blood, and if things continue on their current course, that won't be long now.

jryskmpr-

Wow, that's harsh. I think the man is a socialist that's also very dirty. I also think sone of his supporters are ignorant and stupid. But to buy into a great sales pitch shouldn't make you scum. It's a free society at work. If he wins I'll reconsider.

Never mind Barack. Rezko is about to plead guilty and name Obama. Just read Evelyn Pringle's series at opednews on operation board games and you will see all the crimes this little hood has commited.

Obama will go over for taking contributions and sponsoring legislation in the Rezko/Auchi/General Mediterranean criminal enterprise.

Obama is as dirty as your shoe. What his campaign really revealed is that all his supporters are hoods, too.

By the way, the house and land were a front for an illegal scheme.

The Riverside development was a front for a scheme.

Bye bye bama.

I love all the ignorant, stupid, degenerate people who supported this cheap punk. What a bunch of scum!

There is no mention of regulation. Our tax money goes to bailing out big corporations, so this is not a free market.

Yossarian-

McCain admitted that he doesn't know much about economics. I suppose at least that's honest, and admitting you have a problem is the first step toward dealing with it. Unfortunately, he doesn't sound that INTERESTED in economics to me- he seems way to obsessed with the war.

When Hillary talks about housing, it's clear she wants to keep prices from falling and keep folks in their overpriced homes.

Obama just seems to promise everything to everybody.

I saw a bumper sticker the other day that said, "<em>Someone else for president.</em>" I understand the sentiment.

I've always said he will roll over and play dead when he gets to the negotiations table.
Hilary, on the other hand, knows a lot more about economics... but she's completed bought and sold by US corporate interests.
In other words, no major difference between the two of them.
McCain on the other hand... doesn't even understand basic supply and demand.

I think we have a problem.

I know that the Obamas had plenty of income from his book, plus congressional pay and wife's income. But $1.65 million for a house on Chicago's South Side sounds kind of bubblicious to me.

I guess that the famous Rezko lot is off to the left behind the trees.
