I went to that link that toysarefun provided, and was amazed at what I was reading about granite.Everything that article said was not true.Granite is not durable, not scratch resistant, and not heat resistant.People are made to believe that granite is stronger then steel. Its not.I could tell you story after story about granite and homeowners.Granite doesnt belong in the kitchen.

outofvegas,

I've been here 7.5 yrs and I know exactly what you're talking about. Landscapers and printers are the worst in my book. This town has always been classless. Maybe this downturn will help like an enema. Doesn't matter. No water.

I bet there is a lot of this going on now.

I remember 2 plumber no-shows, and 3 landscaper no-shows in Vegas in early '05. One landscaper took my money (deposit) and never returned. I would guess things are a lot different now, they are probably begging for business, that is if they are still in business.

Interesting how quickly things can go from inability to get people to do work because demand for services is so high then to the same type businesses going broke a few years later.

Now that everyone has one no one needs one. It's a nice luxury that is a bit over rated. Look at all the different kinds of countertops you can get.

The lesson here is if you don't want your property taxes to go up, don't remodel with nice stuff like granite.

Speaking from experience I know this all too well. If you're in the business of chasing rooftops, this is a disaster of epic proportions. Regretfully if someone wants to get into the cabinet and countertop biz they'll just wait for the firesale. I'm sure Wal-Mart is doing just fine.
