Thanks to Jared for telling us about a glitch at the Realtor.com website-
On my recent trip to the Realtor.com website I thought I’d check out their "Why use a realtor?" link. The 4th paragraph from the bottom advertises their "Code of Ethics". I love the fact that when you click the link it says "404 Not Found".
I had to check it out. Here’s the "Why use a realtor?" page, paragraph four:
And here’s what you get when you click on the Code of Ethics: [Above link not live]
This confirms what we suspected. While we know many real estate agents with their own personal code of ethics, [Including our own contributors and posters!] they do seem to be missing at the NAR!

The news today seems to be all about legislating lending rules & maybe ethics?
Seems the lenders have poor ethics themselves.
What is funnier?
1. That the NAR is missing their ethics.
2. That the NAR ever had any
3. That we’re searching the web for them?
In corporate America, ethics have been statements we post on our website, not things we practice. The NAR is perhaps THE MOST Corrupt organization in the WORLD. Yes, even beating Mugabe.
I find that the ethical problems that I encounter as a Realtor have to do with sellers attempting to misrepresent a property and sell if for more than it is worth (rip someone else off), or buyers trying to conceal their financial situation in order to buy a home that they cannot afford. (lying). With a pool of clients who are “sometimes” liars and thieves, it’s no wonder Realtors get caught in the crossfire when things go wrong. Every industry has it’s bad apples. But when large sums of money are being negotiated, buyers and sellers tend to make decisions based on emotion, and whenever emotions and money get mixed, poor decision making abounds.
