Most people ignore your calls to end housing evictions, and probably for good reason.

I’ll bite, though.

How do you think your ban on evictions, if enacted, would affect the rental market and the mortgage market?

There is one reason and one reason only, that there is no ban on housing evictions: it would mean the end of government power over housing. And the Federal Government would rather commit suicide (which it is doing) than give up any of its power to new individually enforceable rights.

It’s a struggle to the death, and many will die of it.

Some of these older homes are worthless. They are full of asbestos piping, flooring, siding, lead paint, radon problems, etc.

Well I realise that most of this looks gloomy but I heard no mention of the fact that foreclosures were down 100% in the Virgin Islands. All to often these blog sites only look at the bad side while completely ignoring the good news. Biased reporting like this is at the foundation of this crisis. We at the Treasury,White House, and the FED would appreciate you highlighting the good as well as the bad news in future articles.
