U.S. Government Wiping Out The National Debt

The national debt has been wiped out by the U.S. government- and The Onion:

U.S. Government Stages Fake Coup To Wipe Out National Debt

Clearly this is unrealistic satire- the U.S. government working on ways to eliminate the national debt? Hah!

[And before someone fires off an email telling me that I don't appear to be working hard on housing relating issues- give me a break.  I'm recuperating from the  sunburn I got yesterday lying on a beach in Galveston, TX.  :  ) ]

The other ideas made more sense. Burning down the country for the insurance money fixes everything! No more housing oversupply, no more foreclosures, all those construction workers have jobs again..

“Disguise the country as Canada” – nice!

    Linenoise-

Burning  down the country would be no good.  We’d use up all of our carbon allotment for cap and trade, and I wouldn’t be able to keep my cows. It looks like they’ll be expensive enough as it is!

I liked the fake Octavian National Anthem, but it did give me a bit of a flashback, as it seems to have been constructed from this (played back at about 2/3rd speed) …

You don’t really get the full effect without the high-definition projection of this on the Jumbotron. Igor says, “absurd,” but I think I already did.

Incidentally, we rehearsed Men of Harlech to sing along at that point, but the logistics didn’t work out (I even tried to borrow a tux for the theoretical gig, but that is a part of a much longer story).
