It’s election day, and I’ve decided to try being a poll worker this year. I’ll be at the polls until closing, so if anything looks interesting, please leave a comment and let us know. Consider this an open thread.

Be sure to collect the $1,000 poll tax from everybody.
good luck!!! i now do everything through mail ballots. i got tired of going to the polls and EVERY time there being people with issues. not the workers/volunteers…but the voters. wrong polling place, no valid i.d., etc, etc. it really made me feel like many people should NOT even be allowed to be part of the process, which made me feel guilty (and a bit arrogant) so i just switched to the early voting system.
Hi, twist and all!
This is to let you know that my wife and I have joined the ranks of property ownership. We are buying a DC condo for 640k that was selling for mid-800s at the peak in 2007. We’re going with a 15-year FHA loan at 4.5%. We got here the old-fashioned way: saving a third of our combined income for over three years, making boring deposits in a low-interest savings account.
We could never have gotten to this place without your advice and commentary on the housing market. We began searching for a home in spring 2006 but pulled back in large part based on the information here.
I’ll still be visiting this site of course, but with a somewhat different point of reference going forward.
Thanks again for everything, Phil
DC-
