Lots of poetry stuff happening around HRM. Today’s local paper arrived with news that George Elliott Clarke will be the new laureate down the road in Toronto. Maybe Sue MacLeod can give him a few tips 😉
About a week ago OHF (underground) and Malahat (established CanLit) held competing launches just a half dozen blocks apart: first good for a bacon sandwich, second for a copy of Anne Simpson’s Is, under the influence of which perhaps I can upgrade my Fiddlehead file from dismissive rejection to polite rejection — inscrutable repetition leavened with insertion of “Ouroboros” should do the trick.
Since then Joanne Light has opened an auto-ekphrastic Jungian installation over at the Universalist church on Inglis. For once the C-H’s review was half-way competent, although a thoughtful letter-to-the-editor calling for a ban might have proved a more effective promotion.
